Q: What are your FAQs about finding and requesting LSC Materials?

A:

PLEASE NOTE

Library Special Collections (LSC) materials DO NOT CIRCULATE. They can only be accessed in the Ahmanson Murphy Reading Room.

To search for and request bibliographical materials, please use UC Library Search. Items held by LSC will display a "Special Collections Request" button that will direct the user to log into their LSC User Account and place a request for that item.

For archival collections and collections of boxed monographs, please use our finding aids on the Online Archive of California (OAC). Finding aids for collections held by LSC contain a "request items" button that will direct the user to log into their LSC User Account and place a request for materials.

The majority of LSC's holdings are stored off-site at the Southern Regional Library Facility or at the Biomedical Library and researchers must request materials at least 2 business days in advance using their LSC User Account. Additional time is needed for collections that contain audiovisual or archival materials.

Our curators and staff have also created subject-specific guides to assist you. Please see our LSC Research Guides.
