Q: How do I request bibliographical materials from the Library Catalog (UC Library Search)?


A:

Visit UC Library Search and follow these steps:

STEP 1:

Search for the bibliographical item you want to request (in this example, we are searching for "UCLA Librarian").

Click on the link "UCLA Librarian.

STEP 2:

You will retrieve the catalog entry pictured below.

Click on the Library Special Collections location banner.

STEP 3:

Click the "Special Collections Request" link.

Clicking on "Special Collections Request" will open the sign-in page for your LSC User account where you will be prompted to sign in to an existing account.

If you are a new user, you will be prompted to create a user account. 

The request form will auto-populate with the catalog information for the selected item.

STEP 4:

Select the calendar icon at the bottom of the form and provide the date you intend to visit LSC to view the materials.

All requests must be submitted at least 2 business days in advance of your visit to allow for off-site item retrieval.

Scheduling delivery of LSC materials is not an appointment and we cannot guarantee seating in the reading room.

STEP 5:

Click the 'Submit Request' button.

You must complete steps 1-5 for each additional request.
