Q: How do I access LSC's audiovisual (AV) and digital archival materials?

A:

Accessing AV Materials

We cannot provide access to AV materials in their original format; they must be evaluated and digitized by AV Preservation staff for safe access.

To access AV materials, please email us at speccoll-duplication@library.ucla.edu as far in advance of your visit as possible. We will provide you with instructions on how to submit a request to have the materials digitized.

For more information, please see LSC Policy on Accessing AV Materials.

Accessing Digital Archival Materials

Born-digital materials that have been processed can be made available on the Reading Room laptop.

Born-digital materials that have not been processed may be made available on the Reading Room laptop if the contents are known (for example, the media is labeled, or the finding aid provides an indication of what the media likely contains) and can be readily accessed in our digital forensics lab. Please note that advance notice is required to access any materials falling into the categories listed above; please contact us at AskLSC@library.ucla.edu as far in advance of your visit as possible to place a request.

For more information, including a list of accessible and inaccessible formats, please see LSC Policy on Accessing Born-Digital Formats.
