Q: What are your FAQs about teaching with Special Collections?

A:

A visit to Library Special Collections can be a valuable addition to your curriculum and pedagogical goals. We encourage engagement with our materials through instruction and exploration. Our staff provides orientations on how to locate, investigate and use primary sources. Our instruction program promotes active, hands-on learning and we can tailor your class visit and activity to support your learning objectives. We also support quarter-long collaborations for courses built primarily around LSC materials.

Our instruction schedule fills up quickly and our classroom space is limited.

To request an instruction session using LSC materials, please fill out the form at the bottom of Teaching with Library Special Collections no less than one month before the class.

If you have questions about integrating LSC materials into the classroom or would like to meet with a curator, please email

Jimmy Zavala, Teaching & Learning Librarian
