Q: I am an instructor or faculty member and want to use Special Collections materials for one of my classes. What should I do?

A:

Library Special Collections materials do not circulate. Therefore, using Special Collections materials for instruction involves setting up an instruction session that will take place in the Library, and requesting LSC materials using your LSC User Account. Please request your instruction session no less than one month in advance.

Step 1:

Make sure you have an active LSC User Account. You will use it to request LSC materials for instruction.

(See What is an LSC User Account and how do I get one?)

Step 2:

Set up an instruction session by filling out the form at the bottom of Teaching with Library Special Collections.

Your instruction request will be routed to LSC's Teaching and Learning Librarian Jimmy Zavala.

Step 3:

Allow time for LSC staff to create an LSC activity for the class in our request management system (Aeon).

When your LSC activity is ready to accept requests for LSC materials to use in your class, you will receive an email that will look like this:

Once you receive the email, you will be able to request LSC materials for your class and add them to the associated LSC activity using your LSC User Account.
